Week 1


Note to grading team:
I (Ben) spoke with Prof. Adum about the fact that we originally did our dev logs in google docs, which led to them being often overwritten and not originally done in this post format for Itch. I converted the google docs to the series of itch posts you see here. The in-post dates are accurate but their upload times are recent because of this. He said this was okay and that this system is fine.


Programming

- Created barebones singing UI and visualized the notes(pitches) of an input song.

- Implemented script that reads .mid audio file

- Implemented real time microphone recording and pitch detection (Microphone analysis uses RMS for loudness and FFT-based peak detection for pitch.)

- Added UI feedback for loudness, pitch, and recording time.

- Working towards tech demo demonstration that happened on Wednesday.


Next steps:

- Implement a script that allows controlling the cursor with pitch.

- Implement pitch comparison to the target song’s melody.

- Implement a scoring system.

- Design detailed scoring rules.

- Design visual feedback for the player’s inputs.



Arts/Animations

- Designed and created game assets for the stage of the game (including models of microphones, speakers, chairs, characters.


- Designed and created art assets that feature music sheets, notes, and cursor.


Next steps:

-Make animations of the characters.

-Make UI elements of the scoring system.



Music/Audio

Next steps:

- Make melodies that players will aim to match.

- Make sound effects for UI interactions.
